Showing wrong time and date in serp

  • Resolved Crix11

Hi if I publish my post now and if my post gets indexed now. But when I check in the SERP it shows 6 hours ago. Before it used to show 2 mins, 52 secs, and whatever the time is but it is showing 6 hours ago. Please help as my ranking is being affected.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Is it possible that you have some functions on your theme to change the timezone? If not, could you please ensure that your site is set to the correct timezone for your location?
WordPress 5.3 has come with some changes in the date/time settings that might be causing this.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

I have the same time zone on my website and in the server i.e +5:30. Please help me as this is happening after the update.

Is everything fine with this code: <meta property=”article:published_time” content=”2019-11-14T23:54:51+05:30″>
I found this on in source code.

Thanks for getting back to us.

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

Hi, I have given the WP login details, please solve my issue please.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the response.

I cannot spot any inconsistency in the data that is returned by Rank Math on your site.
Here is an example post showing the publish date:
    Screen grab
This is the OG meta returned by Rank Math:
    Screen grab

Please note that Rank Math does not add the post date on the meta description and there has to be another plugin that is affecting this date.
Could you please publish the next post when all other third party plugins are deactivated and let us know if the error is still experienced?

    Thank you.

I did as you asked but the problem still exists. Please help.

    Thank you for the follow-up.

I did some follow up and with the release of WP 5.3, there are some changes in how WP deals with date and time.

Kindly confirm if the published date is actually the GMT time.

Let me know how it goes.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

Published date is +05:30 GMT (Kolkata).

    Hi There,

    Thanks for the follow-up,

Kindly confirm, is the published date correct as expected with the timezone considerations?

I have been testing on the issue on my end as well and this concern in the publish date and time seems to only occur with the latest version of WP.

Do let me know so that I may be able to debug and troubleshoot further.

Hope to hear from you soon.

The difference is after the WP update. There is a 6 hours difference.

    Hi There,

I was able to replicate this issue on your site.

That’s quite odd. Kindly allow me to consult the developer on this and then I’ll get back to you.

    Your patience is appreciated.

Ok but make sure it doesn’t harm my website.

    Any update?

There is one update from my end. Every day at least one post has a correct time usually between 6 PM to 9 PM (+5:30) (6 PM to 9 PM is the time when I publish any new article and it is posted with the correct time.)

I couldn’t log in to your site with the access details you added in the Sensitive Data Section. Please check the details again and also add a link of the page/post which is showing the wrong date in the SERP preview.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
