Should I include mega menu post type in sitemap?

    Hi

    First of all, this is an amazing SEO plugin! I’m anything but an SEO expert, but this seems to me to be the best out there. Hands down! And, it’s free! Amazing what you guys have done. Thank you!

    As for my issue… I have installed Clever Mega Menu to create mega menu in Elementor.

    After install Rank Math messaged saying, “We detected new post type(s) (cmm4e_menu), and you would want to check the settings of Titles & Meta page and the Sitemap.”

    I clicked on the We ‘Titles & Meta page’ and ‘the Sitemap’ links. I’m given the usual questions. Do I want to include in Sitemap and if so, what SEO settings should be applied.

    This may be a stupid question… but, I don’t know what to do with this. Should I include the post type in the sitemap? If so, what Title & Meta page settings should be used?

    My thought is it should be excluded. But, if I exclude, will search engines see the menu links since Clever Mega Menu uses custom post types to create the menus?

    I hope I’ve made this clear.

    Any help/advice is GREATLY appreciated.

    Hi,

    Thanks for getting in touch with us.

    It means that your menu is creating a new CPT. In this case, you should leave the settings as they are. Or better, make sure the new menu CPT is set to noindex and not included in the sitemap.

    Thanks. I thought it might be best to noindex. I just wasn’t sure.

    I was worried that since it is a menu/links that that might keep search engines from seeing/following the pages linking thru the menu (header nav menu)

    Hi Chris,

    Thank you for the follow up.

    The pages linking from the menu items should already be available in the sitemap if you have your pages/posts set to index and thus this should not affect your SEO.
