Shop page redirecting to same shop page

    Hi all,

    I noticed redirect on our shop page during GT-metrix tests.

    Our shop page redirects to same shop page: https://www.domain/shop redirects to https://www.domain/shop.

    I can’t fid a reason or setting where from this has been done? Could this some hidden setting in RankMath which I’m not able to locate or could it be server side issue? I’ve checked all redirects from RankMath –>Redirections and it’s not listed over there either.

    Could you please assist what other settings I should check before contacting to our hosting company?

    Hello,

    The only redirection on your URLs is from your URL with no trailing slash: https://www.domain/shop to the URL with a trailing slash: https://www.domain/shop/. This is done by WordPress which by default redirects all URL to the set Permalink settings. In your case if your head to WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks I believe your settings have a slash at the end of your Permalink settings.

    Hi Michael,

    You’re right: there is / sign in our site’s permalinks. What would you reckon, is it needed to delete or shall I just leave as it is? I understand each redirection might cost time on loading speed, but I also want to avoid possible 404’s wich might happen if permalinks are updated/changed.

    You can just leave it as it is. Yes, it has a cost when you redirect a page, but it is too little to put it as a priority over avoiding possible 404 issues.
