Setup – Google Authorization

    Background
I am developing a site for a client. I am doing it on a subdomain on my hosting. It will be migrated to theirs when complete. I do not know if I will continue as the webmaster at that point.

    Questions
In setting up RankMath a link and authorization code for Google Search Console is required/requested. What is the best way to do this in this situation? Do I set it up for my Google Search Console account and then I or they change it after migration? Do I set it up using their account, if they are willing to provide their credentials? Or do I not authorize it until it’s on their hosting and a live production site? How would that impact my ability to set everything up?

Also, after the migration, what do I need to do about URLs?

BTW, I enjoyed Bhanu’s presentation to the WPNYC group!

    Thanks

  • Hello,

You don’t need to set up it yet since it is used only to get the Search Console data in the Rank Math dashboard, a thing you won’t use along the site development.

Once the site is live, your client must authorize their Search Console account there and everything will be ready to go.

    Looking forward to help you.

    Thanks.
In terms of connecting to my RankMath account: I assume it does need to be connected for the best results, but can be switched over when the site is handed over. Is that the way to go?

    Hi Jack,

Yes, you can switch between accounts if you would like.

It is easy and can be done from WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Dashboard > Helps.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thanks!
I don’t think I got an answer to: “Also, after the migration, what do I need to do about URLs?” Generally, the migration methods I use, like WPVivid or All-in-One WP Migration, change the URLs to reflect the new location throughout the site. Will that also happen for RankMath or do I have to do it manually?

    Hello,

Well, Rank Math is not a tool like All-in-One WP migration, when migrating the website you will need to use one of those tools.

But Rank Math uses WordPress URLs so if you change the WordPress domain, Rank Math will use your new domain.

    Looking forward to help you.

    Thanks
