Settings lost after migration

Hi, when I migrate my live site XY.com to my staging site staging.XY.com (using duplicator pro), the settings get lost (e.g. URL related settings like removing the category basis). However all other settings of my site/plugins are preserved. Aren’t the Rankmath settings stored in the database? Thanks for help. Frank

  • Hello,

I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’re facing with your Rank Math settings after migrating your live site to the staging site. When migrating a site, especially with URL-related settings like removing the category basis, it’s crucial to ensure that all settings are preserved to avoid any impact on SEO.

Rank Math settings are indeed stored in the WordPress database. However, during the migration process, some settings might not transfer correctly due to various factors like the migration method used or specific configurations.

To address this issue, I recommend the following steps:

    1. Reconnect Your Rank Math Account: After migrating, ensure that you reconnect your Rank Math account on the staging site. You can follow the steps provided in this guide to reconnect your account.

    2. Check Indexing Settings: Verify that your site is set to index correctly. You can navigate to WordPress Dashboard → Settings → Reading and deselect Search engine visibility if needed. Then, click Save Changes as shown here.

    3. Re-Verify Your Site on Google: If you previously verified your staging site on Google Search Console, re-verify it using the URL of the live site. If not, verify your site using the live site’s URL. You can refer to this guide for assistance.

If the issue persists after following these steps, please provide more details or screenshots of the specific settings that are not transferring correctly so we can assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern, Frank. We’re here to help you get your Rank Math settings back in order on your staging site.

    Warm regards.

    Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

Yes, Rank Math settings are stored in the database. When migrating using Duplicator Pro, ensure the entire database is copied over correctly, including Rank Math settings. Double-check the migration process to ensure all settings are preserved.

If the issue persists, please try importing the settings to your staging site instead by following this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/import-export-settings/

    Looking forward to helping you.

Thanks for letting me know – I worked with the Duplicator support on maintaining the Rankmath settings in the archive and this worked out. Thanks again, Frank
