I want to add FAQ and item list schema to my website. I don’t see this option in my RanK Math settings? How can I accomplish this?

  • Hello,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble finding the FAQ and item list schema options in Rank Math. To add the FAQ Schema using Rank Math, you can follow these steps:

    1. If you’re using Elementor, you can add the FAQ Schema by navigating to the Schema tab in the SEO settings for the post/page and then clicking on the Schema Generator. From there, you can select the FAQ Schema and use the Schema Builder to add your FAQs.

    2. If you’re using the Classic Editor, you can navigate to the Rank Math SEO metabox, select the Schema tab, and then click on Schema Generator to add the FAQ Schema.

    3. In both cases, you can also use the FAQ Block settings to customize the appearance of your FAQ Schema, including options for list style, title wrapper, image size, and CSS customization.

If you’d like to add an item list schema, you can use the Schema Generator to select the ItemList Schema type and then add your items.

If you have any further questions or need assistance with this process, please feel free to reach out to our support team directly from here, and we’re always here to help.

The robot’s response is not helpful because it’s incorrect re: FAQ schema. “If you’re using Elementor, you can add the FAQ Schema by navigating to the Schema tab in the SEO settings for the post/page and then clicking on the Schema Generator. From there, you can select the FAQ Schema and use the Schema Builder to add your FAQs” > I have the Kadence plugin. The FAQ does not show up in the schema generator.

“If you’d like to add an item list schema, you can use the Schema Generator to select the ItemList Schema type and then add your items.” > This does not show up in the schema generator

I have the free plan, if this is the issue, then the robot should have said that.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

The feature to add the FAQ Schema and ItemList Schema from the Rank Math Schema generator is only available in the PRO version of the Rank Math plugin. As you’re using the Free version of the Rank Math, that’s why you’re not able to see them in the Schema Generator.

However, you can add the FAQ Schema in the Free version of the Rank Math plugin by using the FAQ block in the block editor. https://rankmath.com/kb/faq-schema-block/

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

I added the FAQ schema per your instructions, but I’m getting this error in Google Search Console:

    Missing field “mainEntity”

GSC – “Why items are invalid
Invalid items can’t be used to generate rich results on Google”

Where do I add this field and/or how do I correct this in RankMath?

    thanks,

Also, I’m getting these errors in GSC for the “course” schema I’ve added to my course page.
How do I correct these errors in RM? Thanks, Jeanne

Either “courseWorkload” or “courseSchedule” should be specified (in “hasCourseInstance”)

    Missing field “hasCourseInstance”

    Missing field “category” (in “offers”)

    Missing field “provider”

    Missing field “offers”

    Hello,

Could you please share the affected URLs with us so that we can check this issue further for you?

Regarding the course schema error, we added those fields in the course schema in Rank Math version 1.0.207. In this case, please make sure you’re using the latest version of the Rank Math plugin on your website: https://rankmath.com/changelog/free/

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

Hello, I resolved the issue above… but I have another question in regard to course schema and FAQ schema.

    1. On this url: https://jeannenangle.com/high-vibe-thinking-course I’ve applied RM FAQ schema, but it doesn’t show up in Google Search Console > Enhancements > FAQ. It’s not there. Why is that?

    2. On the same page above, I’ve chosen course schema: RM > Schema Generator > Course > +use > added all relevant fields and not error shows any longer. However, in GSC there is not any “course” schema showing up. GSC > Enhancements > Course Info > no data. Why is that? Here’s what it says in GSC under Course info: “Valid items
These items are eligible for Google Search’s rich results
No valid items found in the last 90 days”

So, the course schema I chose in RM is not showing up in GSC for the high-vibe thinking course url listed above. Pls tell me how to fix it.

    thanks, Jeanne

And please add this to the message above this one..

I’ve also used Google’s “rich results test” to see which schema Google sees on the page and for the url: https://jeannenangle.com/high-vibe-thinking-course

The only schema that appears in the rich results test is:
    article
    image object
    organization

Even though I have the main RM schema as “course”. ?? thx

    Hello,

I can check that you are using Schema & Structured Data for the WP plugin on your site. When this plugin is enabled, it removes the Schema of our plugin, and that’s why you are not seeing the Schemas you have applied using our plugin.

Please disable the Schema & Structured Data for the WP plugin to use our plugin’s Schema.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

OK, thank you. If I use Schemantra for item list schema, will that disable my RankMath schema??

    Jeanne

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

If you’re using a schema generator, you can import the schema from that tool to Rank Math by using and customizing this filter:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/filters-hooks-api-developer/#extend-json-ld-data

Alternatively, you may import the schema easily with Rank Math PRO using the Schema Generator:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/import-schema-markup/#how-to-import-json-ld-schema

    Hope that helps.

OK, thank you. Can you please tell me quickly, today… if I can do just “item list” schema with the code you sent? I hate to buy RM Pro just yet for only one schema type. THANK YOU!
    Jeanne

Add to message above: To be clear all that I want is “item list” schema added for the lists of “things” in my articles. I’m looking for a simple way to do this without buying “pro”. thanks again, Jeanne

    Hello,

Without using the PRO subscription you would have had to follow the steps listed by my colleague here.

However, we can see that you now have a Rank Math PRO subscription. Simply follow the steps in this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/itemlist-schema/, to implement the Itemlist schema.

Let us know how this goes. Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.

    Thank you.
