Save Changes results in blank admin-post.php page

    Rank Math free

I am using Rank Math 1.0.40. When I make changes in Rank Math and click the button to save changes, I get a blank page at mydomainname.com/wp-admin/admin-post.php. I am getting that blank page no matter which settings page I am updating. I then have to use the back button to go to other Rank Math pages to change settings.

Rank Math is not saving my settings when it leaves the page where settings were made, then goes on to the blank admin-post.php page. Basically, at this point Rank Math is not keeping any settings in the admin area.

In an effort to fix the issue I disabled the Rank Math plugin in the WPcontent Plugins folder by renaming it. I then downloaded a fresh copy from RankMath.com and uploaded it and activated it. The same problem remains.

I disabled every plugin, one by one, and nothing changed. The settings pages still go to a blank page.

I disabled all plugins, then tested Rank Math while activating each plugin one by one. No change.

The site is a Divi site, but that should have no bearing. I have Rank Math running on a different with the same theme and version and I have zero problems with it.

Please help me get this going. Rank Math is a great SEO plugin, but it is basically useless on this site since I can’t save changes from the admin panel.

I have added credentials in the sensitive data area. Please note, this is a live site.

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Follow-up.

In an effort to get Rank Math working on this website, I copied the site to a staging area in a sub-domain on the same server. Rank Math worked exactly as it should. I deleted the live version of the site and cloned the staged site to live. The problem returned on the live site.

The live site and staging are on the same server. The version that is now live is an exact copy of the one on the staging server. Both versions are running PHP 7.2. Both have exactly the same setting in the php INI setup.

Yet Rank Math on the staging site works fine. I can make changes in the settings panel and save the page and all works exactly as it should. If I make changes in the settings panel on the live site and click to save, Rank Math still goes to a blank page and does not save the settings previously entered.

I would really like to use Rank Math on this site but I cannot as it is. Please check it for me. It has been approximately 30 hours since I submitted the first ticket and you can see I’ve been trying to get it going on my own only to have zero success.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Could you please share some FTP access as well so that we can dig deeper into this issue?

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

I have submitted the ftp information requested.

    Hi Tom,

    Thanks for the reply.

We are investigating this further and we will be in touch in a short while.

Your patience is highly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello,

I see the issue on your site but I couldn’t reproduce it on my setup. Also, no errors are logged in the debug.log file after enabling WP_DEBUG. Can you please give us access to your site’s Database? I tried to access it from PHPmyadmin plugin but that didn’t work, it gave me 503 error.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

    Thank you.

    Hello,

The cmb2_save_options-page_fields_ hook is causing problem on your site when the hook function callback returns null. To fix the issue on your site I changed return to return ”; on line 351 in seo-by-rank-math/includes/admin/class-option.php.

That seemed to have fixed the issue. Can you please confirm?

Please do not remove your site’s access details from the Sensitive Data Section as I have forwarded this issue to our Developer Team for further debugging.

    I hope that helps.

I made several attempts to save changes to settings and was successful each time.

I copied and opened the file you mentioned in your reply into CotEditor and was not able to determine which line you applied the fix to. The file had less than 351 lines in it when viewed with php formatting and so couldn’t tell what was changed on line 351.

Nevertheless, I am left wondering why if the missing ;” was the problem, how did the copy that is on the staging copy not have the problem? If they had identical files, how could the live site be missing a character or two, but not the staging site? Since I never found the fix you made, I couldn’t tell if the staging site already had the fix, or if it was somehow working correctly without the fix.

I will leave the credentials in place until you notify me that you no longer need them.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have logged in to your site to check this issue and I noticed something strange: when I revert the change made by my colleague (line 351 in seo-by-rank-math/includes/admin/class-option-center.php file – NOT in class-options.php file, sorry for the confusion) and then I try to save the SEO settings, everything seems to be working fine and I don’t see any issue.

Then I went on to reinstall the latest version of Rank Math, to confirm that it is working fine without any changes, and I still don’t see any problem, I can save the settings just fine.

Could you please confirm the same one more time?

Thank you. Looking forward to your response.

I just went in and poked and clicked around some. I never experienced the former problem that I was having.

I suppose you can close this ticket for now. If it pops up again later, I’ll submit a new ticket.

Is it safe to remove the login information now?

    Thanks.
