    Rank Math free

    Hey!
I have a problem the Rank Math says that robots.txt file is not writable.
    and
“Contents are locked because robots.txt file is present in the root folder.”

What I need to do? I already tried to delate robots.txt from root map and add it again but no results.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
We can look into it for you. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

For the robots.txt option in Rank Math to work, you have to delete the robot.txt in your website’s root folder.

Then Rank Math will be able to generate a robots.txt file for you and you can manage that from WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > Edit Robots.txt

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

    Thank you for that information.

Could you check if you have a robots.txt file present in your website’s root folder? You may need to delete that file for Rank Math’s robots.txt to work. I’ve also tried checking and logging in to your root, but the FTP credentials are not working.

I hope that helps. Thank you, and looking forward to your update.
