Robots Blocked [Images]

    Hello,

My images are not getting indexed by Google, in fact I’ve seen a steady increase in de-indexing of my other site.

I’ve checked my robots.txt file and it allows wp-content. In addition, I’ve cleared my cache before checking on search console.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Please update the robots.txt file on your web server to allow Google’s crawler to fetch the provided images. The robots.txt file can usually be found in the root directory of the web server (e.g. http://www.example.com/robots.txt). In order for us to access your whole site, ensure that your robots.txt file allows both user-agents ‘Googlebot-image’ (used for images) and ‘Googlebot’ (used for web pages) to crawl your site. You can do this by changing your robots.txt file as follows:

    User-agent: Googlebot
    Disallow:
    User-agent: Googlebot-image
    Disallow:

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hi

User-agent is set to *, so I don’t see why we would need to specify each Google bot.

    Hi Prateek,

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the delayed response.

I had missed your last screenshot which shows that you have a static robots.txt file on the root of your site that is controlling indexing.

Please delete or rename this file so that Rank Math can create a virtual robots file to manage indexing.

Let us know how this goes. Thank you.
