I don’t understand why every post/page on the website has a canonical tag added pointing back to itself and how to fix this issue? I have reviewed the header.php files, as well as the plugins and any other places I could find that might effect and be causing this issue.

To resolve this issue, you can use Rank Math SEO WordPress plugin to change the canonical URL using the meta box. Here’s how you can do it:
- Open the post/page that contains the duplicate content.
- Navigate to the Advanced tab of Rank Math in your editor. If you’re unable to find the Advanced tab, please enable the advanced mode from WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO → Dashboard.
- Under the Advanced tab, you can change the Canonical URL field to point to the main source of your content.
Once you’ve done that, save your changes, and the canonical URL should be updated accordingly.
