    Hello,
I started a topic recently because i need to bulk redirect lot of pages (almost 50) because i have to delete them. Reinelle suggest me to use regex redirect, and i thank you for this, but i closed the post before asking a last question :

I read that isnt a good SEO technique to bulk redirect lot of pages, for example, to the home page. So my question is, will cause problem to redirect all those pages (which are in english) to a single directory (for example /blog/ , which is in Italian language) ?
Is better to single redirect to the reffered Italian alternate page? or can i bulk redirect to the /blog/ directory without seo problem?

Thanks and sorry if i start another topic.

    Hello.

Thank you for contacting Rank Math.

I have checked your previous conversation and it seems like you simply wanted to eliminate the language prefix inserted by your translation plugin. The regex redirection here of course it is a workaround but there could be functionality to set a different permalink of your translated pages depending on the translation plugin you are using.

All in all, you should not worry about the redirections. The major effect they would have when they are too many is to put unnecessary load on the server and may end up reducing speed. But they will not cause harm to your SEO rankings.

Regarding redirecting most of your pages to your homepage, it is a practice that is not encouraged, as it will only confuse Google, and lose some of your hard-earned traffic from the content that will be redirected.

Instead, the better approach is to redirect them to related content, which allows the new page to have a better chance of growing their traffic.

Hope this clarifies your question. Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks Brian,
Im not using any plugin for translation, its everything setted manually and the /en/ path is a simple wordpress category.

So, as i understand… is better if i redirect the single english pages that i wanted to delete, to the related Italian language page, instead of bulk redirect all pages tothe /blog/ path … am i correct?

    Thanks

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us.

Exactly, rather than redirecting these pages to the /blog/ page, you need to redirect them to their Italian alternates, since they are related.

Google will eventually notice these redirects and remove the /en/ pages if you wanted them deleted even in SERPs as well. Plus there will be no loss of ranking in fact this link juice will be passed to the Italian pages over time.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Amazing. thanks Brian!
