    Hi,

Thanks for the awesome plugin. I am facing issue with Google Search Console, after submitting its saying Sitemap could not be read. Attached ( Screenshot-01 & 02 attached.). I tried to check on XMl Validator. Its showing error ” Incorrect http header content-type: “text/html; charset=UTF-8” (expected: “application/xml”). I read some of the previous tickets of the same issues. ANd followed the Permalink update thing as well. But nothing is working really. I will be very happy if you can help me with this issue.

    Best Regards.

  • Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

The first step will be to remove the current submitted sitemaps from your GSC.
Do you have any caching plugin on your site? If so please exclude your sitemap URLs from being cached and clear your cache then do the following:

    1. Head over to WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks

    Hit the save button once.

    2. Go to WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Sitemap Settings

    Hit the save button once.
    3. Once this is done, now head back to your GSC and resubmit ONLY your main sitemap(sitemap_index.xml)

    That should fix the issue.

If it doesn’t, please do let us know so we can look at this further.

    Hi Davis,

Thank you for your kind reply. I followed every step of the guideline. Excluded the sitemap URL from the cache plugin and purge all the cache. And Update from Permalink and your plugin. But after submitting it is still saying error. Don’t understand what’s really wrong?

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

We really look forward to helping you.

Any update on this ticket ? I am facing a similar issue.

    Hello,

@kabaddi, have you tried the options suggested to exclude your sitemap from caching and resubmitting your sitemap?

If so, please create a new ticket and share some access to your site in the sensitive section so we can look into this.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

I just updated the login URL. Thank you again for your kind reply and help. Let me know if you need anything else.

    Hello,

You seem to have added only main sitemap to be excluded from caching. I added the rest, post, page and candidate sitemaps. Could you please attempt re-submitting your sitemap_index in the GSC and let us know if the issue is resolved.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

Hi Michael Davis, Thanks for your kind reply. But there is something wrong I guess. I can see my sitemap URL is 404 now. Can you please check the URL.

    Hello,

Your sitemap is appearing fine from my end. Please check the screencast I have added in the sensitive section.

To avoid browser cache, please test this in an incognito/private browser or a different browser.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
