Redirections Not Working

  • Hi!

I recently upgrade my access permissions on the site to be able to use redirections but they don’t seem to be working. Nothing I add has any effect. It doesn’t redirect, doesn’t change, just carries on doing the same thing.

I have experience redirecting in Yoast and in the Retour Plug in for Craft so pretty sure I’m not doing anything wrong on my end.

    Can you help please?

    Thanks!
    Jason.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

In that case, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have just tried to log in using your login credentials but they seem to don’t work. Could you check them?

    Looking forward to help you.

    Hello,

I have also tried to log in using the provided login credentials but they seem to don’t work. I have attached a screencast please check.

    Looking forward to help you.

    Hi Michael,

Apologies, not sure what happened with that last password. Please see the updated details now. Thanks!

    Hello,

I take a deeper look and your redirections seems to be working if it uses a “normal” string like “test” but your URLL contains a query string like ?page_id=xxxx

I asked about it to the devs and we are sorry but Rank Math doesn’t have an option to redirect URLs with query strings.

You may have to use any other plugin to redirect URLs like that.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hi Alberto,

Thanks for this. We’ve also tried to redirect URLs like this one:

    https://moversandmakers.ie/blog/kud0v0a.php?ed118f=this-is-the-end-cast

But with no luck. Is that the same query string issue for this one?

Do you have any recommendations on another plug in we could use to handle 301s? We want to keep RankMath for everything else (because it’s great!) but it’s just a shame it doesn’t have this feature.

    Thanks for your help!
    Jason.

    Hello,

Yes, with that other URL happens the same, since it has the ? (which is called the arguments of the URL), it is not possible to redirect it with Rank Math.

We want to improve the Redirections system in Rank Math so hopefully it will work in a future update, but for now, the best way is using another plugin for that.

You could use a plugin like this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/redirection/ (it is really famous).

    Looking forward to help you.

    Hi ALberto,

That’s great, thanks for your help. Have a great day!

    Hello Jason,

We are super happy that this resolved your issue. If you have any other questions in the future, know that we are here to help you.

If you don’t mind me asking, could you please leave us a review (if you haven’t already) on https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/seo-by-rank-math/reviews/#new-post about your overall experience with Rank Math? We appreciate your time and patience.

If you do have another question in the future, please feel free to create a new forum topic, and it will be our pleasure to assist you again.

    Thank you.
