Google treats the 410 errors the same as the 404 errors and can report them as 404 errors in GSC. https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/7471925/google-is-not-showing-410-headers-keeps-saying-urls-have-a-404-status?hl=en
However, when Google sees the 410 code, it can detect that the content was deleted intentionally and will not be coming back.
Also, you will still see a 404 page because content can’t be found on that URL but if you check the HTTP response using a tool like https://httpstatus.io/, you will see a 410 status code.
