Redirecting duplicate posts

#786935
  • Hi

I have several duplicate posts that serve a specific purpose on my site. These all have the same URL as the original post, but they end in -2.

Is there a way to set a redirection from the “URL”-2 to the original “URL”?

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

I understand that you have several duplicate posts on your site with URLs ending in -2 that you want to redirect to the original post URL. To achieve this redirection, you can follow these steps:

    1. Go to your WordPress admin dashboard and navigate to Rank Math SEO > Redirections.

      Rank Math Redirections Tab

    2. Click on Add New Redirection and enter the Source URL (the duplicate post URL ending in -2) and the Destination URL (the original post URL).

      Create new redirection

    3. Select the redirection type as 301 Permanent Move.

    4. Click the Add Redirection button to save the redirection.

By setting up this 301 redirect in Rank Math, any traffic going to the duplicate post URLs ending in -2 will be automatically redirected to the original post URL. This will help consolidate the traffic and ensure that only the original version is accessible.

If you have multiple URLs that need to be redirected, you can also add them in bulk using Rank Math’s Redirections feature.

If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out. Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention.

    Best regards.

    Hi

I need to redirect all URLs that end in -2 to the same URLs without -2.

There must be a global way to redirect these without doing it one by one.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support.

Navigate to Rank Math > Redirection and add the following redirection rule to your website:

    Source URLs: ^(.*)-2$
    Destination URL: /$1
    Redirection Mode: Regex
    Redirection Type: 301 Permanent Move

We hope this helps you resolve the issue. Don’t hesitate to contact us again with any other questions or concerns regarding Rank Math. We are always happy to help.

Thank you for choosing Rank Math!
