    Hey,

I am trying to add a redirect from one of the links to a pdf file which is part of wp-uploads folder.

The redirect for some reason doesnt work and wordpress keeps redirecting the link to home page instead of the pdf file.

Can you look into what could possibly be a problem?

Added details to Sensitive data section.

    Best.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I have tested the same redirection from my end and it is working just fine. It seems like you have another redirection that is redirecting to homepage.

To find out which one, head to Rank math > Redirections and deactivate all redirections then activate them one by one while testing your URL to confirm which one is causing the issue.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hi,

I m not sure what redirect you are checking.

I have updated the sensitive data with the header response from HTTPHeader.io tool.

There is no other redirect in place either on functions.php or htaccess file. We have checked, yet the redirect doesnt work.

And the link keeps redirecting to home page.

There must be a solution to this!

    Thank you.

    Hello,

It seems the PDF URL is now giving a 404, please check the screenshot I have added in the sensitive section.

The 404 is likely to redirect to homepage if you have set the fall back behavior to homepage in Rank math > General settings > Redirects

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hello,

Thats the old URL, I switched it to check further if the file is causing the problem.

All the new details were already added to the edited sensitive data.

Now I have added the Screenshot to show you the re-uploaded file URL works.

    Do check it out.

Hoping this gets solved with the next reply.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

After looking into it further, I able to find the cause of your issue. You have enabled the option to redirect attachments in Rank math > General Settings > Links. Orphan attachments are set t redirect to homepage. If you wish the PDF to open on your end, you will need to disable the option to Redirect attachments on your site.

Hope that helps. If you have any further question(s), please let us know. Thank you.

Thanks for help Michael, its working now.
