redirect to homepage does not work

    I was notified by Google Search Console that one of my pages does have an redirect error. They tried https://peters-foto-hobby.de/wordpress/?p=80 and run into an error page.
    The redirect was set to homepage at this time. I was able to replicate the problem and also as trial changed the redirect to a special page and do see the same error.

    Only with the standard 404 behavior there is no error, I get the main template. This is what I did set for now.

    This is for more than one site and I cannot say when it begun, because I did set the redirect last year and never tested in between.

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    Rank Math doesn’t support (for now, we want to support it soon) redirecting URLs with query parameters (the ones with the ‘?’ symbol).

    You should change your permalinks from plain to another structure or use for the redirections another plugin that supports that kind of redirection.

    my Permalinks are using the page names. Any idea why Google might test with a “?”

    Hello,

    URLs with ‘?’ are URLs with parameters. Usually, you don’t want those URLs indexed (sometimes you want, but in really specific cases).

    But since Google is testing those, it means you are linking in some pages to URLs with those parameters. You could safely ignore them or you could try another redirection plugin to redirect those URLs.
