I realized that activation may not be working because I had to revert to wp 6.1 and RankMath requires 6.3 and up. So I will install wp 6.3 and hope my website doesn’t crash again and that RankMath comes back. For future reference, how to reinstall RankMath without losing data? The bot-referenced page says do not delete the plug in because data will be lost.

Temporarily uninstalling/deleting the plugin does not remove any of Rank Math’s data from your database.
So, you can delete the plugin and install it again.
