RankMaths causing dupicate Title and H1 error in SEMrush site audit

I discovered that there is an issue with Rankmath if you change the Title of a blog. I use SEMrush for site audit. I currently have the free Rankmath and am looking at upgrading to the pro but here is the issue.

When I make a new blog post or page, add a title, use my Divi and make my page the page will validate as expected.

If i then make a change to the Title Semrush now reports that the page i just modified has a Duplicate Title/H1 tags.

I worked with the Divi and verified that there is NO duplicates on the page.

I finally deactivated Rankmath and the error went away, reactivated Rankmath and the error reappeared.

You can verify the page has only one title and 1 H1 tag

Once you get this error you cannot clear it, it appears Rankmath is caching the first entered Title and does not update if/when the title is modified.

    How do we fix this?

    thanks

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

I have checked the page’s source code you have provided and verified the title and H1 tags are not getting any duplicate values. You can also verify it using our External SEO Analyzer.

It is possible that SEMRush is seeing a cached version of your site. Could you please try clearing your website’s cache before doing the site audit and see if the issue still persists?

    I hope that helps.

Thank you, and looking forward to your update.

I have cleared all cache, like I said i made changes to the page that would create error and SEMrush reported them, I fixed the errors i put in and senrush picked up the changes.

I deactivated RM and the problem went away.
I reactivated RM and the problem reappeared

It is like it is cached in RM somewhere but i cleared the RM cache as well.

    Hello,

Could you please clear the Rank Math Transients by heading over to WP Dashboard > Rank Math > Status & Tools > Database tools. then flush your website cache, or if possible, you can turn off your caching plugin to test your site in semrush. However, I cannot replicate the issue on my end. I can see only the <h1> tag on your page.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

I cleared the Transients and turned everything I could off. I even tried running with FF instead of my safari without success.

The only way I can get the error to go away is to disable RM, of course then SEMrush shows a ton of error as there is not decorations etc but the Duplicate Title and H1 tag error disappears.

I am going to open a ticket with SEMrush and see if they can shed some light as to why they see this error when this plugin is on.

    Hello,

    Thank you for the update.

Let us know how this goes with SEMRush. You can also inform them that there is only 1 <title> and <H1> tags on your page’s source code to verify.

Meanwhile, please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime to assist you further with anything else.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

I got feedback from Divi where they said that thanks to the power of rankmath all I seed to do is make sure the snippet is different than the title post you make when you generate a new post or page.

Since Divi by default applies an H1 tag to the post/page title that triggers the duplicate content error in Semrush as the post/page title is identical to the H1 tag.

Just change the snippet by one word and that does the trick. Not the cleanest solution as you should be able to remove the H1 tag from the divi default but it works.

    Hello,

We are glad that this issue has been sorted out.

If you have another question in the future, please feel free to create a new forum topic, and it will be our pleasure to assist you again.

    Thank you.
