RankMath uses the first paragraph instead of seo description

Hi there
I just came across a problem. SEO Titles & Meta – Posts. In the single post Description default is set to %excerpt% but even if I change to %seo_description% RankMath chooses to use the first paragraph instead of the H2 seo description. What do I have to enter that rank math uses the seo description and not the first paragraph?
Best regards Dan

• Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. Iā€™m sorry for the delay and for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

By default, we use your website’s first paragraph as a description if you’re using %excerpt%. This helps keep the meta description readable, which is more important because users and search engines do not like jumped meta description, which happens when you set up something to use the first 160 characters with no respect for formating.

In this case, since you wanted your description to be your 2nd paragraph or H2, you will need to type it manually in the edit snippet or live preview.

I hope that helps. Thank you, and looking forward to your update.

Hi Reinelle
Thank you very much for your swift answer! However maybe we do not talk about the same thing.
Here is one of my Posts

Ocean cleanup team finds shocking things

which will be the Title as well as the Permalink Name

<!– wp:heading –>

Our ocean cleanup team find some pretty shocking things! šŸ˜±šŸ’” Roads to Rescue the Ocean. Our Marine Conservation Work

<!– /wp:heading –>
a few month back the above was taken as the snippet Description

Now it takes the below first paragraph on my Page as as the snippet Description if I put %excerpt%
<!– wp:paragraph –>

A Video of our Marine Conservation work from our Ocean Cleanup Team has been featured on the Facebook Group Lovimals. We are proud to have come so far to get recognized a little more. However the underwater work is hard, tedious, and tiring and we need all the Help we can get! It doesn’t matter if that’s by sharing our content, joining our Ocean cleanup team as an Ocean conservation Volunteer or by Donation!

<!– /wp:paragraph –>
Why has this changed? And do i have to put it manually if i want to have my H2 as the snippet description?

Hello,

The content used for your description as taken using the excerpt variable usually excludes header tags and focuses on general content or rather paragraph content. You need the content you need for your description as paragraph if you want t to be added as excerpt else you may have to define the description your self in the SEO meta box for the description field.

Hope this helps you. Thank you
