Rankmath is rewriting URL's from a Widget and breaks them

  • Resolved Heiko

We are using the JS Jobs plugin from Joomsky for a Job Board site. This plugin has 2 widgets which show links to jobs by city and by country. These widgets work fine when RankMath is deactivated, however stop working when we activate RankMath.

We asked JoomSky to check why this is happening and they told us, that RankMath re-writes the URL’s and therefore the links from the widgets don’t work anymore.

Is there a way to make these two plugins work with each other as we need the Job Board plugin and actually otherwise love Rankmath for everything else it lets us do for SEO…

    Thanks

    Heiko

  • Hello Heiko,

Thank you for getting in touch.

I am so sorry about that.

Those two options you said weren’t working are working for me.

I have added a video showing that it working in your sensitive data section. Can you please check and let me know if that is not the expected behavior?

    Hello Todd,

Thanks so much for helping out with that. the current functionality with Rank Math activated is not what it is supposed to do, as it rewrites the URL and sends it to the Control Panel, instead of the actual Jobs.

I disabled the Rank math Plugin now, so you can see where the URL is supposed to end up, when it is working properly.

    Thank you,

    Heiko

    Hello,

    Thank you for your response.

Would you mind sharing some temporary admin access within the sensitive data section so that we can look into this issue?

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hi Michael:

    Added, thanks for the help.

    Hello,

Thank you for the follow up.

The links appear to work as expected on my end. Would you mind checking this from anther browser?

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

Unfortunately the link is not working, as soon as you activate RankMath. it should show the actual jobs and does so as well when I deactivate RankMath, however with RankMath activated it does rewrite the URL and shows the wrong content… See attached images with correct and incorrect showing when RankMath is enabled and disabled!

    Thanks

    Hello,

    Thank you for the response.

I have now been able to reproduce the issue on your site. Could I have your permission to check whether the issue is conflict related by testing whether the issue can be reproduced with all other plugins deactivated?

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hi Michael,

That is fine, as long as I can get my site back up and working afterwards again… The site is not officially live yet, so there should be no major problem with testing and fixing it.

    Thank you,

    Heiko

    Hello,

I see the issue on your site, the problem is you are using Jobs plugin shortcode in the Meta description which is breaking the page.

Instead of the shortcode, please add some text, that will fix the issue.

I edited 1 page on your site ( site_url//js-jobs-employer-controlpanel/jobs/?country=105 ) and added a screencast in the Sensitive Data Section.

    Hope that helps. Thank you.

    Hello Pratik:

NEVERMIND WHAT I WROTE BELOW, I JUST FOUND THAT YOU ACTUALLY FIXED IT, TOO BLIND TO PROPERLY READ IT, Sorry and

Thank you very much for the help!!

    Heiko

Thanks for the explanation and I basically do get what it is about, the only issue is, that these pages are actually not existing, they are created on the fly by the widget. If you look at the pages in our Admin, you can see that the individual pages for countries and cities are not created.

Is there a main place where I can set this snippet for the widget or do I have to create a page for each country and city and replace the shortcode? This would be a major issue and task as there are about 60 countries and over 3,000 cities in the database each with a different numeric number…

    Thank you,

    Heiko
