RankMath erasing Beaver Builder style data on page update

#492627
  • Hello,
I’m running into an issue between Beaver Builder and RankMath. It has been going on for a while, but I was just able to isolate it between the two.

When I duplicate a page with Beaver Builder and publish it, the page displays as it is and I can edit it. However, if I go into the Page Editor > Edit Snippet and then change the RankMath description, upon saving the edits, all of the page styles get stripped out and all my blocks in Beaver Builder get converted to a single text editor box.

I’m assuming that this must be a bug with RankMath, as I have found no fix or even work-around for that matter on my end. The only thing I can do it let it happen and then just rebuild the page in Beaver Builder from scratch.

    Thanks for your time!
    Chris

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

We can’t seem to replicate this issue from our end. We have tried duplicating a page and editing the meta description, it doesn’t affect the blocks from the builder.

Please ensure that you are using the latest version of Rank Math plugin and the Beaver Builder. If not yet, please do update them. You may refer to our changelog page here: https://rankmath.com/changelog/

If the issue persists, please create a screencast from your end using the tool https://loom.com/ showing the issue and share it here.

This will help us effectively reproduce the error in case we are missing something.

If you prefer, we can take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hi Jeremy,
Thanks for the fast response! I wasn’t expecting support on a weekend, but thanks!

I have updated the sensitive info above with a link to a video walk-through to reproduce the issue, a direct login link, as well as FTP info (I did test it, so it should work, but if not you can install one of the various WP ftp plugins).

I have taken a backup of the “wp-esd” folder which contains the WordPress install in question as well as the loose files below it. All the other folders above that, you should not have to touch.

I have also been able to rule out all other plugins and even the theme. So, it’s down to the two plugins, the WP install, or the server config itself.

This is a live site, so I have set up a coming soon page so that users cannot access their accounts or the website while it is being tweaked on. Please be careful to not deactivate it. In fact, I should have everything but the necessary plugins already deactivated.

Thanks for taking a look into this! I’m two days from a new product launch, so the timing is definitely crappy.

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing the admin access and a screencast for reproducing this issue.

I checked the video and tried to reproduce it by following the steps you mentioned, but it seems to be working fine. Please check the screencast I added in the Sensitive Data.

Can you please tell us if we are missing anything?

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,
After reviewing your video, I have spotted one major difference. I left my SEO description blank and cleared out the social fields as well. You filled yours out.

I went back and duplicated a fresh page and made sure all the boxes were filled out, and it worked exactly how it did on your screencast. However, if I clear out the SEO fields and save, that is when it strips out the styles.

So, some sort of bug, but at least now I have a work-around and can get everything live again.

If you would like to investigate further, you can do so, however the site will now be live.

    Thanks!
    Chris

    Hello,

In this case, kindly renew the temporary admin login so we can try replicating it and follow the specific step you did on your end.

If this is something we can replicate then we can report this as a bug.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,
Thank you for the reply, however further investigation into this is no longer needed on my end. Something continued to corrupt the database until the majority of the site no longer worked, so I opted to wipe everything and rebuild from scratch.

After doing so, I no longer have this issue (but I also no longer use Beaver Builder on this site). So, the issue was elsewhere or a combination of things, but myself and many others could never figure out what it was that caused the issue in the first place.

However, on my rebuild, I do have a little issue (could just be a limitation) with the 404 redirects. If need be, I can make another thread: but if I set a keyword or phrase and mark it as (contains) – if that phrase or keyword is used in a valid page, I get a “too many redirects” error on that single page.

So, basically if I try to redirect a bunch of 404 pages to my new page, I have to set an exact link for each redirect instead of setting one keyword to cover them all.

Thanks for your time, and sorry I cannot be of any more help in diagnosing the original issue!

    Hello,

Sorry for the unexpected delay and any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Please share a screenshot of the rule you have created and one of the affected URLs so we can check and assist you further with the redirection issue. You can use a tool like https://imgbb.com to share the screenshots.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
