Rankmath admin interface parts gone

#10248
  • After investigating what happened during the latest update where many users have parts of their interface disappearing if they are running WP 4, I can tell you what you did.

Basically, you’re not including all the proper *.js files you used to.

For instance, if you were properly including:

    seo-by-rank-math/assets/admin/js/common.js
    seo-by-rank-math/assets/admin/js/post-metabox.js

Then the tabs would show up and operating again. You should fix this.

  • As an update to this, there are still JS errors in the console after making a change to force the inclusion of common.js and post-metabox.js on the WP 4 admin page.

You can try it for yourself of course, but it appears to be related to moving the RM interface closer to a React App with a <div> having the “RankMathApp” id and checks with wp.hooks (using the new method “hasFilter”) for JS filters which are only available in the latest version of WP 5.

Does Rankmath still even work on WP 5 for users running the classic editor I wonder?

Do you have a plan or a statement for the WP < 5 and now the Classicpress community? There are 1000’s of us that would like to know if this is something you’re going to address. Thanks.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I have just submitted this issue to our dev team for closer investigation and we will be getting back to you in a short while.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

I’d also like to know whether you will be continuing to support WP < 5 (and ClassicPress which is fully compatible with WP 4.9.10).

I installed Rank Math due to favourable mentions on the ClassicPress forums and indications that you’d be willing to support it. I’d hate to have to uninstall Rank Math due to lack of compatibility with WP <5.

Given the dominance of Yoast and their close ties to Automattic and Yoast’s abandonment of WP < 5, continuing to support the large number of WP (and ClassicPress) users unwilling to adopt WP5+ would attract a lot of users (and goodwill!)

    Hello,

Can you please update to the latest version of the plugin, 1.0.29?

    We fixed the compatibility issue.

    Hope that helps. Thank you.

Seems to be a functional fix, thank you. We will continue to suggest that sites running WP < 5 and ClassicPress to use RankMath when appropriate.
