rank math redirect has gone awry

  • So today my rank math redirect seems to have gotten a ghost in the shell…. without me setting it, one of my pages inexplicably changed to have a -2 at the end of it. I did not set this and I can’t undo it ie I can’t remove the -2 from the page and a redirect from mywebpage-2 back to mywebpage doesn’t work. What on earth could be happening here….? I’m totally stumped… when I try to change the page from mywebpage-2 to something else like mywebpagenew it will let me, but the redirects still won’t work (ie mywebpage to mywebpagenew) Seems my rank math is suddenly possessed… Any thoughts on how to exorcise this bizarre bug hugely appreciated!

  • Also, I can’t delete the associated redirects. Every time I try they just reappear again.

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
I think we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

The reason the URL is not working is because you have a media file with the exact same URL. Since you have enabled the redirect option in Rank math > General Settings > Links, the URL is automatically redirected to homepage.

To avoid this, you will have to change the permalink of the image, or delete it in your media library and upload it again with a different name & permalink.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

Thank you so much!! That resolved it!! The weird thing is, I’ve had that image for ages and it’s never caused an issue up until yesterday… In any case, finding this image and deleting it and uploading it under a different name resolved the issue. Thank you so much!! You’ve been amazing!! 😀
