  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention.

Rank Math automatically adds the Canonical URL to your pages/posts if they are set to index and you will notice that there is a pre-set canonical URL of that specific post/page.

You don’t need to add the URL https://rankmath.com/canonical-url exactly as it is only an example from our knowledgebase article.

The main purpose of modifying the Canonical URL is to let Google (or other search engines) know that it is a duplicate page, and NOT to be indexed.

I hope that helps. Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance.

Thanks…there are no dumb questions, but that one came close. So my takeaway is that if there is a url there I should leave things alone.

    Carl

    Hello,

Yes, you are correct. We have also updated the knowledgebase article to avoid confusion as well.

We are super happy that we have addressed your concern. If you have any other questions in the future, know that we are here to help you.

If you don’t mind me asking, could you please leave us a review (if you haven’t already) on https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/seo-by-rank-math/reviews/#new-post about your overall experience with Rank Math? We appreciate your time and patience.

If you have another question in the future, please feel free to create a new forum topic, and it will be our pleasure to assist you again.

    Thank you.
