    Rank Math free

Hi there, I’m still struggling to get the meta description to show properly in Google searches. When I right click and select view page source for 1recovery.org in wordpress editing mode it shows Rank Math and the correct meta title and meta description. But when I log out of wordpress, and I’m in basic browser mode and 1recovery.org is showing it’s completely different. When right clicking to view page source it doesn’t show Rank Math or any meta data. I’m completely confused. I’ve deleted Rank Math a couple times and reloaded. I’ve deleted Rank Math database files before reloading Rank Math. I’ve deleted old database files for Yoast and AIOSEO. Can you please help me figure this out? This is fairly urgent. Thanks for your help! Ken

  • Hello, I apologize for the issue you’re facing with the meta description not showing properly in Google searches for 1recovery.org. It sounds like a frustrating situation, and I understand the urgency.

Based on the information you’ve provided, it seems that the issue might be related to how the meta data is being displayed when logged out of WordPress. This could be due to various reasons such as caching or indexing issues.

To troubleshoot this, I recommend checking a few things:

    1. Ensure that the meta title and description are set up correctly using Rank Math. You can refer to this guide on how to check what you have set using Rank Math.
    2. Verify that your schema settings are valid as shown in this guide.
    3. Check if the title and description are set up properly in the page’s source code as described in this article.

If you’ve already tried these steps, or if you need further assistance, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will take over and provide more specific guidance based on your website’s configuration.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we’ll do our best to help you resolve this issue.

Hi there I checked all the recommendations and am still having an issue with not being able to see the meta data when I right click and select view page source in regular browser mode. It shows when I do that in the wordpress editor mode which I’ve already explained. But not in regular browser mode.

I also deleted all Rank Math, Yoast, and AIOSEO database files and then reloaded Rank Math and followed the Wizard. I also generated Schema following the instructions in the #2 and #3 recommendations. The both have the same article.

This is what Google is currently showing for a meta description:

Why Us. Pay · Pay · Home; Our Focus; About; Treatment Plans; Contact; Reviews; Why Us. 1Recovery Logo. Main Menu. Home; Our Focus; About; Treatment Plans …

This is what it should show:

Need help? We offer support not just for counseling but also for post-treatment. We want your loved one to achieve great results!

You can see that clearly there is an issue.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support.

We’re not sure why you’re not seeing the correct page source code, but we just checked your website’s source code and we can confirm that Rank Math meta tags are being outputted correctly. Here’s a screenshot:

If you still not seeing the correct meta tags, please clear your cache and try again – or send us a screenshot so we can take a look.

Regarding the description that Google is showing, please note that Google sometimes chooses to use a different description than the one you have specified. This happens when the Google algorithm thinks another description on your website best serves the specific user’s search query. For example, when I search your website, this is the description I see:

This is different from the description you have specified and is also different from the description you are seeing which means that Google is choosing the description based on the user’s search query.

This is not an issue with your website as it affects about 70% of the results on Google and we have a detailed article that explains why this happens and how you can fix it: https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/

We also have another article that covers the Google update that introduced this change and how it affects your SEO strategy: https://rankmath.com/google-update/google-title-rewrite-update/

We hope this helps you understand the situation better and resolve the issue. Please feel free to contact us again if you need any further assistance or have any questions. We are always happy to help.

Thank you for choosing Rank Math!

Hi Great, thanks for a detailed response. I really appreciate your help.

My only concern with what’s currently showing is that it doesn’t make any sense. I had an issue before where the same thing happened. It showed something similar to what it’s showing right now which is this:

Why Us. Pay · Pay · Home; Our Focus; About; Treatment Plans; Contact; Reviews; Why Us. 1Recovery Logo. Main Menu. Home; Our Focus; About; Treatment Plans .

You’re showing the site:1recovery.org results which are different.

The one thing I’ll point out is that in the past I added metadata to the header because I thought it might reinforce the meta description I was wanting Google to show. But what happened was that it ended up showing something very similar to what it’s currently showing.

So I deleted the header meta data, and that solved the issue. But that was back when I still had Rank Math. Then I switched to Yoast and never had any meta description issues.

It’s almost like Google is telling me there’s a duplicate meta description, so they’re showing this broken meta description that I included above.

I suspect that when I deactivated and deleted Yoast before adding Rank Math back. Somehow somewhere there’s still a trace of the old meta description from Yoast.

So I went into my database and deleted every file that was associated with Yoast. I even deleted AIOSEO files from when I first used an SEO tool.

I deactivated and deleted Rank Math as part of the process and then made sure Rank Math database files were deleted as well.

Then I added Rank Math back, and still the issue persists.

So then I deactivated and deleted WP Code Lite which is the plugin I used to add the meta description back when I first was using Rank Math. My thought was maybe there’s a trace of the metadata somewhere from this plugin. So I deleted everything associated with that plugin, and still the issue persists.

I don’t think this is a Google issue. I think this is an issue with the same meta description from Yoast still showing up somewhere but I’m not sure where. I’m unsure what else to check or change.

It looks like I’ll have to go back to Yoast and follow their procedure to properly deactivate and delete Rank Math.

That’s too bad because I enjoyed using Rank Math more, but I can’t live with a broken up meta description that even Google wouldn’t show and there doesn’t appear to be a viable solution. Which is a bit surprising. I can’t imagine this is the first time something like this has happened.

    Hello,

I can check that you have switched back to Yoast. However, we can assure you that the issue wasn’t related to Rank Math. SEO plugins can only add the description tag to the site. They can’t confirm whether Google will use it or not. If Google doesn’t want to use the description set, there is no way to force them to do that.

Having said that, we hope that the site works fine with Yoast and you get the desired results. Please let us know if you ever decide to switch back to Rank Math and need our assistance.

    We are here to assist.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.
