We provide the option to open external links in a new tab under Rank Math > General Settings > Links > Open External Links in New Tab/Window. Could you confirm if you’ve enabled this option?
However, I checked your website and the button on the homepage links to the about page of the website but is opening in a new tab.
Upon investigating, I found that the link in the button is in the format: https://your-domain.com/about-us/ whereas the actual URL of the about page is in the format: https://www.your-domain.com/about-us/ (notice the ‘www’ variation). Please have a look at the screencast in the sensitive data section of this ticket.
Could you please update the link in the button with the exact URL (with ‘www’) and clear your website’s cache and see if the target='_blank' attribute is removed?
