Product URLs with category

    Hi,

I had this issue but managed to fix it (mostly) this morning by following your team’s instructions.

However, I have encountered several issues afterwards:
    – Product sitemap took a while to change but eventually changed after a few minutes. Good.
    – Some products lost their slug, and started showing: /title-page-sep-sitename/, /title-page-sep-sitename-2/, etc. I manually fixed the slugs of the products.
    – Products are visible by following both URLs, the one including the full path (with categories) and the one with full URL, which is…weird.
    – Some products in some categories, aren’t showing full path, and only indicate one category in the url.
    – Some products inside the same category are presenting the previous issue, while others work correctly. This makes me think something is really wrong, as there is no pattern. They either would be all broken or all good, but not a mix inside the same category.

    Thank you very much,
    Regards

    Hello,

I think we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hi Alberto, done.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

    Thanks for the details.

Some products lost their slug, and started showing: /title-page-sep-sitename/, /title-page-sep-sitename-2/, etc. I manually fixed the slugs of the products.

That usually happens when there are two posts/pages/products with the same URL and WP automatically appends a number to the end. This can happen even when something in the trash has the same URL as well.

Products are visible by following both URLs, the one including the full path (with categories) and the one with full URL, which is…weird.

You can redirect one to the other. However, the canonical URL is correct so there is nothing to be worried about. Someone will only land at your incorrect URL when they type in the exact URL in the browser bar which is unlikely. These old URLs will not appear in Google. But, you can fix that using redirects too.

Some products in some categories, aren’t showing full path, and only indicate one category in the url.

That is normal when you choose the primary category in the backend:

Some products inside the same category are presenting the previous issue, while others work correctly. This makes me think something is really wrong, as there is no pattern. They either would be all broken or all good, but not a mix inside the same category.

If you can share an example of an incorrect URL and the correct URL it should show – we would love to help you sort this problem.

    Hi Uzair,

    Thanks for the response.

It was due to the “primary category” selection as you mentioned. That made some products have full URL or shorter URL depending on which category was selected as primary.

Thanks again and have a nice week.
