Some of my product images on google are showing the highest price of the variable products. This is a new product that Google just indexed.

  • Also Google images is picking up Related Products images as well and titling them as main product. Makes it look like I don’t know my stones. Is there a way to prevent this?

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

The lowest & highest price is a required part of the product aggregate schema markup. To understand more of the data that is shown on the SERPs for your products, please check this Google guide on product markup: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/product

The price shown on the SERPs is only a part of the aggregate offer of which the product price [referred to as medium price] is not a part of and therefore not shown. Google will display a single price as the regular price.

Google images are picking up Related Products images as well and titling them as the main product.

Could you kindly provide some of the affected URLs for this issue. You can also provide a screenshot for reference.

We really look forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

I understand about the schema price range and that is showing correctly on Google search. My concern was Google images… sometimes it shows the regular price (low end) and sometimes it shows XXL price in the description.

    Hello.

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

Apparently, Google images only display a single price (mostly the lowest price) for the variable products and it chooses this based on the specific algorithms like user choice intent on a specific variable among others. A user could have searched on red XXL T-shirt which will definitely show an image of the product with the actual price of that variation if set to be the highest/lowest price.

If you check at the actual search results and not images, you may sometimes note that the price in SERPs is indicated as starting from $2.00 for a certain variable product. It mostly takes the lowest price as the default price. See a sample screenshot here: https://i.rankmath.com/GpuPbf

The WooCommerce and Rank Math uses the initial method using min/max price for both setting price and setting the schema respectively. If I understand correctly, these plugins have no influence on whether this is actually shown in search results, this all depends on the Google algorithm to show a certain price.

Hope this clarifies the issue more. Let us know if you have any other queries.

Thank you for the detailed explanation about pricing and Google.

What about the related products using the main product’s title in Google images? Is there a way to prevent this as it looks like I don’t know what gemstones I’m using in my products because they are labeled wrong 🙂 Link and screenshot in sensitive data.

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us,

According to the image screenshot you sent, the title there can be referenced from the SEO meta title of the product page. Titles and descriptions always depend on the keyword a user inserts in the search engine. In this case, you must have inserted a precise search keyword so as to display the meta title.

I have checked the meta title of your product page and it appears to be the same, See screenshot here: https://i.rankmath.com/w0A4xP

In other cases, Google may decide to pick the actual product title depending on the keyword inserted, here is an example: https://i.rankmath.com/B7rIkV

Just to add that in most cases once you have a google image being shown as the main image, the related images hardly show images from the same site. If you did see such an example kindly do let us know by sharing the keyword you used here.

We are looking forward to helping you again.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math again.

Upon checking the product on both your site and Google images I was able to replicate what you mean. This can be referenced by these two screenshots: https://i.rankmath.com/bD6N6J
    https://i.rankmath.com/SAyzpn

In your case when the image appears at the bottom of every other product in the collection [related products], Google indexes the image and thus has to make the decision on which URL to associate with the image.

You may expect the Product Page (of the related product) itself to be the page that the image links to – but this may not be the case.

One probable reason is that Google will associate the Image with the ‘higher ranking’ or what it considers to be the more relevant page for the user. It could be that your Product Image appears on the bottom of another product altogether – and if that page happens to be a ‘higher profile’ page, due to it being linked to a popular tweet, for example, this may be deemed more relevant, and thus be the page that Google links to for the image.

There would be no straightforward method to fix this on Google or compel them to show the right URL of the related product. Besides improving ranking on these individual pages, I would suggest being more precise on the image SEO as well. Ensure that the Product Image has a filename that matches the Product itself and also have specific keywords on the Product Edit page which will be used for the Alt Tag on the image.

Hope this is more helpful. Let us know if you have any other questions for us.
We really look forward to helping you.
