product images in sitemap

    Hi

    Thank you for everything you provide with rankmath, always appreciated!

    I just have an issue with product images that are shown in google results which do not represent the product image i have as ” featured ” or “main image”. when I search some of my products, google pulls images from that product’s gallery but not the “main image” which is frustrating because it takes long time for google console to readjust changes.

    is there a way through rankmath to for example, tell it to ignore certain images and only use the main product image?

    before opening a ticket, i tried to manually excluding images from sitemap in media library, but i’m not sure that’s how it’s done… i have done my research on support area and resources but i couldn’t find a topic that discusses this issue in particular.

    i’d be so thankful if you could enlighten me or provide some help!

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math.

    Google chooses the images automatically. The images on Google SERPs are not controlled via the Schema markup or any plugin, but rather they are taken directly from your page when Google thinks it’s beneficial for the user to show those and it mostly depends on the keyword search term and the website authority.

    Excluding the images from the sitemap will only remove those images from the sitemap, Google can still crawl those images.

    We have no index image option in Rank Math, but it will set all the images on the page to noindex.

    You can try to add relevant ALT text to the images that you want to appear in the search results.
