Plugin not working on staging

    Good morning. I have installed the plugin on a staging site but unable to activate it although when setting it up I was asked if I wanted to install the plugin on the live site. I clicked yes but didn’t notice until after the fact it wasn’t for staging.

    How do I change this so I can only install on the staging? I’m using Siteground.

    Thanks for getting in touch with us.

    If you have already installed it, you will need to remove it from WP > Plugins.

    Then, install the plugin on your staging website.

    This doesn’t help as I’ve already done so. I am not getting a prompt to activate on the staging site, from the staging site. Only to the live site.

    Hi,

    It seems like you have selected your main domain at WP > Settings > General > Site URL

    I tried changing it but it doesn’t work. Please talk to your web hosting provider as the issue will be fixed when the Site URL updates to the correct value.

    For now, I have added your website to your profile manually so you can proceed with the setup and connect with your profile.

    Slight direction change in discussion
    I want to set everything up on a staging site then migrate over to live site. (I have a plugin to do that) I will continually do this as I do updates to site. Is this possible? Does it involve any kind of special setup/instructions/maintenance etc?
    It will be two different URL’s and 2 different databases etc. The staging site is a system domain, the live site a real domain

    Hi Dan,

    We are not sure what system you are using but if all other plugins are working with your system – Rank Math should work fine as well.

    If you enter canonical tags manually, you will need to update them manually as well.

    Apart from that, it should work just like any other plugin.
