Page Sitemap /404

  • Hi – I am having the following issue.

The main sitemap is working but the page-sitemap.xml is not. When I click on the Page Sitemap, it directs me to a 404 page. I tried your suggestion with the permalinks (Settings->Permalings -> Save options) and then saving the sitemap settings again, but it is still not working. Please assist. Thanks!

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Could you please head over to Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Page and check if the Page robots meta has been set to noindex?

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

Hi – It was set to nonindex. I unchecked it and saved the new settings. How long will it take to update the Page Sitemap so it doesn’t head to the 404 page? Thank you!

    HI Aisha,

    Thanks for the follow up.

The change should be instant, please click save on the sitemap settings and then head over to Settings > Permalinks and click save and this should fix the 404 error.

I hope this info helps. Thank you.

Hi – No, that did not work. What else can I check? Thank you

    Hi there,

    Thank for the follow up.

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hi Aisha,

    Of course, this wouldn’t work.

All your pages were marked as noindex so there was literally nothing in the page-sitemap.xml to show.

I see that you made one of the pages indexable and the page sitemap is now working.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Gotcha! I didn’t realize that the individual pages were nonindexed as well. Todd, I understand you do this day in and day out. All of this is new to me so I am learning as I go. So I didn’t appreciate your Of Course remark.

I have updated 9 pages to index. How long will it take for those pages to show up on the sitemap? Thank you for your assistance.

The sitemaps are up now. Thanks, everyone!

    Hi Aisha,

I am glad that this is now resolved 🙂

Don’t hesitate to contact me should any other issues come up. Thank you.
