One Big SEO Mess

Site is 10+ years old. At least 3 different SEO advisors. Each one said everything was wrong and needed to be “fixed”.

Organic traffic dropping. Changed from Yoast Pro to Rank Math 2 months ago. RM growing on me. Just need to figure out how to breathe new life into site.

Site has 70 pages and 450 posts. Most pages are “dated”, not “evergreen”. Need to revise/update/replace.

    Identified problem pages.

URL – %site%%page-name% (page published but not listed in menu)
    Slug – %page-name%
    Permalink – %site%%page-name%

    URL – %site%%page-name%
    Slug – %page-name%
    Permalink – %site%%page-name%

    URL – %site%%parent-page%%page-name%
    Slug – %page-name%
    Permalink – %site%parent-page%%page-name%

Would prefer (I think) permalink for all pages to be %site%%page-name%

Where do I start? Entirely new pages? Attempt to salvage some existing pages but change permalink?

    HELP.

Would prefer (I think) permalink for all pages to be %site%%page-name%

Should I make all page permalinks (new and existing) as above and use the menu to place them in the appropriate headline topic?

I have a FEW pages that get enough traffic to possibly warrant a redirect. But it seems that revising a low traffic page or replacing with evergreen content might be preferable.

My hope is a “cleaner” site will improve the resulting sitemap and help to generate more traffic when combined with fresh content

    Hello,

Yes, the option you suggest seems to be a good one. My only recommendation would be to keep an eye on the 404 monitor, just to be sure you don’t have any trouble, and if you have, to use the redirections dashboard to fix it.

    Looking forward to help you.
