Old blog posts rank higher – delete?

I am a commercial/corporate photographer based in London..

Since installing RM we have made a big effort to get our SEO score as high as possible for each post :-), however there is always a limit to the range of keywords and I notice inevitably some repeat/very similar over the years.

My question is how to deal with old blog posts? Should we re edit old ones to make them less relevant so Google picks up on the newer posts first? (ideal as new work highlights the advantages of better processing, cameras and a more contemporary style)
or is it better to delete the old posts and do a 301 redirect to the new one?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

One of the methods of passing link juice to different posts/page on your site is adding some deep links or doing internal linking on your article so that they can easily be discovered on the posts that is doing well on the SERP.

You can also have the newer posts optimized for a more competitive keyword and then generate more backlinks to the new post.

A redirect from one page to an entirely different page will result in no PageRank being passed and will be considered a soft 404. You can learn more about this on the following page:

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
