  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Please share your website URL in the Sensitive Data section so we can check it from our end.

For initial troubleshooting, can you please follow these steps?

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    3. If the issue persists, kindly apply this filter code to your theme’s functions.php file:

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Can you please confirm if you have followed the steps mentioned by my colleague above?

If you haven’t, please exclude the sitemaps from caching, then clear your website cache and check the sitemap.

If the issue persists, please get in touch with your web host and ensure that the sitemaps are not cached on the server.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

hi it works now. i’m going to build this to 1 million posts, do i have to update anything to this or will it hold everything?

    Hello,

If the sitemaps are excluded from caching, you would not have to do anything to update the sitemaps. They will be updated automatically will all the data.

To confirm this, you can get in touch with your web host and ensure that the sitemaps are not cached on the server’s end.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

Now the discovered URLs in sitemap is going down.

    From 35k to 6k.

Norobot shows everything normal and web host says it’s not served cached

Nvm, it was no indexed in header when I used Google performance. I’m just going to switch back to Yoast lol

nvm the above wasnt true. web host and myself have no idea whats going on

    Hello,

I checked your sitemaps one more time and everything seems to be setup correctly. Please allow Google Some time to recrawl your posts.

it was no indexed in header when I used Google performance.

I am not sure what you mean in the above quote. If you are referring to the sitemaps being set to noindex, that is correct. Sitemaps should not be found by website visitors so they are set to noindex. They will still be crawled and the post URLs indexed.

Hope that helps. Please let us know id you have questions.

Total discovered URLs has dropped so I was freaking out. Thx for reply. Hope it gets better soon

    Hello,

The lower number in Discovered URLs in Google Search Console just means that the URLs in the sitemap were already found by Googlebot by other means, instead of via the sitemap. For example, Googlebot may have found the URLs from internal links or possibly from links on another site.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Hi just to clarify:

I thought discovered URLs were supposed to increase as my site gets crawled.

If it gets lower every week, that’s no problem at all?

    Hello,

This could be just temporary as Google may have used all the crawling budget for your website. You may give it a couple of more weeks and see if the discovered URLs increases.

    Looking forward to helping you.

Switched to Yoast and it went from 4.5k discovered to 24k

It was dropping 500 a week prior

    Hello,

Glad that you were able to sort it out.

Though we are sad to see you go, we respect your decision.

But if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

We are here to help you.
