non index all pages

My WordPress website has 207 pages of which only 3 I want to have indexed for google search. I’ve tried setting the “global setting” to Non-Index for Pages but when I look at my pages file in WordPress they are all still showing as Indexed. I want to flag all pages as non-idex and then only set the ones to be indexed separately.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention.

Could you please share the URL of your website so that we can check it from our end? You can edit the first post and add your website URL in the sensitive area section.

Looking forward to your update. Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

I’ve checked your /sitemap_index.xml, and you have a lot of pages set to index in /page-sitemap1.xml and /page-sitemap2.xml. I’m assuming you have marked the Page Robots Meta in Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Pages.

    Page robots meta

If that’s the case, unfortunately, that option only works upon creating a new page since that is the default robots meta and your published pages will not be set to noindex. In this case, you may need to edit them individually and set them to noindex.

However, we offer bulk editing of your pages with the Rank Math PRO version. Here’s a link for more information:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/bulk-editing-in-rank-math/#3-bulk-actions

Once you have already marked them as noindex, you can then verify it in your /sitemap_index.xml and ensure the 3 pages you are referring are the only ones showing in /page-sitemap.xml.

I hope that helps. Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance with anything else.

Thank you. I’ll then have to edit all my pages. Will I need to resubmit my sitemap or does rank math do this automatically?

    Hello,

    Thank you for the follow-up.

Rank Math automatically updates your sitemap once the changes have been made.

However, if Google is still showing them in your Google Search Console account, you may need to resubmit your sitemap.

    I hope that helps.

    Thank you.
