    Hello,

Just a general SEO question wanted to see what Rankmath’s take was on noindexing non-canonical pages (old content that has been deleted) and URL pages that dont exist for example Google indexing pages such as Website URL/homepage/page so indexing the wrong URL structure whereas it should be website URL/category/page as an example; or could this be an issue with the site structure or does google need time to index properly because its a very new 2 months old website?

I know I can use the following methods:
301 the page to a new URL and have Google crawl it
Noindex the URL and have google crawl it
Canonicalize it back to another page
    Let the page 404
    Disallow it in Robots.txt

But wanted to see whether Rankmath opinion.

    Thanks

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

My usual take for this would be:

    • If the page was important and has some related content in the site, create a 301 redirection
    • If the content was not important, just let a 404 error page and Google will remove it

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
