Noindex query

    Hi

    I’ve been looking through the developer tools on my site to find out why my rankings are dropping and have found a “noindex” on all my pages, as follows:

    As NoIndex

    I’ve taken screenshots but was unable to attach them. When I click on the ‘noindex’ link and it still took me the page and seems to be indexed.

    Should these ‘noindex’ be there? I’ve read there shouldn’t be any on a page that you want indexing, so do I need to do anything? Thanks

    Hi Anthony,

    It is a pretty common mistake to open the page source and search for a noindex tag to see if the page is marked as noindex or not. In your case, you saw the mention of noindex and assumed that the page is set as noindex. The actual noindex tag is added like this:

    <meta robots="noindex">

    But, the one you mentioned in your post refers to the No Index option that Rank Math offers in the admin menu bar.
    null

    It is pretty easy to mistake the two especially if you do not have full knowledge of how the noindex tag works and how it is supposed to look like.

    You can confirm the presence (or absence) of the actual robots noindex tag on this 3rd party website:

    https://smallseotools.com/meta-tags-analyzer/

    So, nothing to worry about if the above website says it is index. Your page is definitely not set to noindex 🙂

    Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
