no index no follow

    Rank Math free

    Hi
What is the best practice here for the following

Search Filter result pages like this
    /product-category/sink-tapware/?filters=collections[akemi]

    product nav page urls like
    /product-category/sink-tapware/?product-page=4

    Quick View pages like this
    /product/vivid-slimline-pull-out-sink-mixer-gun-metal-phoenix-tapware/?quick-view=245551

I am assuming that all these actually are potentially a duplicate content issue and index bloat

What are the best practice options here?
Does Rank Math have an inbuilt solution?
Do I need to add no follow or no index somewhere?

    Thanks
    Danny

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Usually, Rank Math provides a canonical URL for those types of pages to avoid duplication of content.

If you wish to de-index them, to initially address this, please head over to your WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Misc Pages and enable the settings:

    type

Additionally, you may disallow the said URLs in your robots.txt file as well.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Hi
So bit confused – re canonical how can I check that is happening
Re the toggle switches – will I then have to remove all the urls form google search console?

    Hello,

If you have already set them to noindex, then you’ll just need to revalidate the issue in your Google Search Console account

    revalidate

Once done, give Google some time to recrawl your site.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Thanks
But i’m still a bit confused as to how and why the canonical is set for the params pages. So how do you set the cannonical of this
    /product-category/sink-tapware/?filters=collections[akemi]
    to this
    /product-category/sink-tapware/

Also what about the middle option sub pages turn that on too?

    Hello,

Once you set the pages to Noindex, the canonical tag will be removed as there is no need for it since Google isn’t going to index those pages. And the option to Noindex subpages is for the category and other archive pages. You can enable it if you don’t want to index your archive subpages.

Hope that helps. Let us know if you need any other assistance.

Thanks but I’m asking if I don’t noindex these param pages how do I set the canonical?

    Hello,

Rank Math should automatically set the correct canonical for those param pages.

If that’s not the case on your end, please share your website URL in the sensitive data section so we can take a closer look at it.

Looking forward to helping you on this one.
