    Dear Rankmath support team,

I’m reaching out to you with the hope of help from your side. My site is a victim of “Internal site search spam”. I have been facing this issue for a long time. I have also followed the rank math setting mentioned in the Knowledgebase article ( to enable the option of noindex search results).

This step didn’t help me from removing the attack from my site.

Now I can see that a few of the links are indexed in the google.

Looking forward for help from your side.

    Thank You!

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with internal site search spam. We understand the frustration it can cause and we appreciate you reaching out to us for assistance.

It’s unfortunate to hear that enabling the “Noindex Search Results” option in Rank Math didn’t resolve the issue for you. We’d like to help you further with this.

To address the indexed spam links, we recommend using the “Removals” tool in Google Search Console to request the removal of these URLs from the search results. Here’s a guide on how to do that: Google Search Console Removals Tool.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out to our dedicated support team here. We are available 24/7, 365 days a year to assist you.

We hope this information helps, and we look forward to helping you resolve this issue.

    Thank you!

    Dear RankMath Support team,

Thank you for the swift reply.

I will follow the advice to remove indexed URLs using the Google search console. I have seen a post advising to use a WordPress filter to block the specific keywords seen in the spammy URLs. For this, I need to edit the function.php file.

I have done the same and I see that a pop-up appears as a warning if I click the spammy URLs and once I click ok on the pop-up. It navigates to the home page.

I need your suggestion would this help me in removing the attack from my site? Or is there any other approach to remove this attack from my site?

    Thank you for the help.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that this issue might have caused.

It sounds like your site might be targeted by malicious bots.

You might want to install a security plugin like Wordfence or Sucuri to block malicious traffic.

However, it is best that you contact your hosting provider as they may provide additional support or security measures.

As regards Google crawling and indexing those search pages you could include the following disallowed rule in your robots.txt to block access to internal search result pages:

    Disallow: /search/
    Disallow: *?s=*

We hope that helps, and please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
