    Still facing issue

    Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

    Please follow the steps below:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    3. Apply the following filter code to your site.

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

Here’s how you can add filter to your WordPress site:https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/

    4. Then, remove all your sitemaps from your GSC and re-submit only the primary one (https://yourwebsite.com/sitemap_index.xml).

If the issue persists, please share your website URL here so we can check the issue further.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thanks for the response,
I had followed all the steps which you had provided but still i’m facing the could not fetch error in my GSC.
Here is the link of my website https://cadfem.asia/ Please help me out.

    Hello,

We checked your website’s sitemap and it seems to be loading without any issues.

Can you please remove all your sitemaps from your GSC and try submitting this instead?https://cadfem.asia/?sitemap=1

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    No Jeremy,
Just now i had removed all my linked sitemaps and uploaded the latest one which you had provided but still facing the same issue.
    Please help me out

    Hello,

We visited the sitemap while simulating as a Googlebot and the sitemap gave the 200 status, which shows that everything is fine.

Please give Google some time to crawl and read your sitemap then check again.

If everything is fine on your end, and Google may still return the error, please note that not all sitemaps are processed by Google. Not necessarily because there is something wrong with the sitemap.

Even a perfect sitemap may not be processed by Google.

Most of the time, it’s still sitting in the queue waiting for processing. Remember, Google is processing millions of sitemap daily, sometimes it takes time to get to yours. But for whatever reason, Google never gets around to some sitemaps. It just doesn’t think it is worth it.

And Search Console sometimes shows ‘Pending’ as ‘couldn’t fetch’ incorrectly. You can check the replies of Google experts for the Couldn’t Fetch(especially for the TLDs except for .com) issues on the following threads:
    https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/29055233/missing-xml-sitemap-data-in-google-search-console-for-tld-domain?hl=en
    https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/31835653/sitemap-couldn-t-fetch-sitemap-couldn-t-be-read-by-google-search-console?hl=en

You can try using a different sitemap plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/xml-sitemap-generator-for-google/ to generate the sitemap and see if Google can read them. Please make sure to disable the Sitemap module of our plugin in WP Dashboard > Rank Math > Dashboard.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi Adetayo,
Thanks for your response, The GSC has sent me notification in the below way

    Duplicate without user-selected canonical

    Not found (404)

    Excluded by ‘noindex’ tag

    Page with redirect

Alternate page with proper canonical tag

Does these reasons impact my could not fetch reason..?

    Hello,

No, these errors are generated because Google saw them from certain affected URLs, which means these URLs are discovered somehow from either internal links or sitemap. So these errors have nothing to do with your sitemap as your sitemap is loading fine.

To address the errors you encountered, please follow the guides below:

    1. Duplicate without user-selected canonical
If you see the ‘Duplicate without user-selected canonical’ status in your Google Search Console account, it means that Google has found identical or very similar content on your website but has not been able to determine which page is the original/canonical version.

This can happen for a number of reasons, but the most common is usually due to structural issues on your website (e.g. duplicate content in your sitemap or multiple pages with the same title tag).

To fix this, you can follow our guide in our knowledge base article: https://rankmath.com/kb/duplicate-without-user-selected-canonical/

    2. Not found (404):
Please check if these URLs aren’t just deleted content from your site. If they are, then letting them in a 404 status should be fine. Google will understand that and eventually deindex/remove them from the search results page (if they were indexed before).

    3. Excluded by ‘noindex’ tag
Please follow this guide to address the issue: https://rankmath.com/kb/excluded-by-noindex-tag/

    4. Page with redirect
It seems like Google has found some incorrect URLs redirecting to the correct ones. Since the correct URLs are accessible and are being indexed, you can ignore the error. You can also use the URL Inspection tool of your GSC account to check the incorrect URLs and find the referring page to figure out how Google is discovering those. If they are related to internal links to your site, you can find them and fix the links to avoid getting the errors in GSC. You may refer to this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/page-with-redirect/

    5. Alternate page with proper canonical tag
This means that you have multiple page versions of a single content in your website. Here’s how you address the issue: https://rankmath.com/kb/alternate-page-with-proper-canonical-tag/

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need my assistance with anything else.

Then why my site map could not fetch error is still not resolved.

    Hello,

The notification Google set you is not related to the Couldn't fetch issue, which is happening from Google’s end. I’ve double-checked your sitemap, and it appears to be working fine with no reported issues.

There was a similar issue discussed previously on the Google Webmaster forum, which you can find here. We’ve also noticed multiple user reports of similar issues occurring again.

We recommend giving it a bit more time and reporting the issue on the Webmaster forum so that Google is aware (or reminded) of it.

Please feel free to reach out if you need assistance with anything else.

    Hi Great,
Thank you for the response, If my sitemap is working fine i will wait till the google crawls my site.

    Hello,

    Glad that helped.

Please feel free to reach out to us again in case you need any other assistance.

    We are here to help.

    Thank you.
