The pages which are been indexed on google, I have set their meta title and description through RANK MATH SEO

Now on some of the pages it behaves properly, but in some cases it also puts the date before the description, the wrong meta title, and sometimes not pick the exact description. Why?

For better understanding I am sharing the image- https://imgur.com/a/hb5tryv

  • Hello,

We apologize for the inconvenience you are facing with the meta title and description of your indexed pages. It seems that Google is displaying unexpected behavior with the meta information you have set using Rank Math SEO.

The issue you are experiencing could be due to a variety of reasons, including Google’s preference for showing alternative titles and descriptions based on the search intent. Additionally, if the latest version of your page hasn’t been indexed by Google, it may still display outdated meta information.

To address this issue, you can start by checking when Google’s cache was last updated for the affected pages. This will help you determine if Google has picked up on the changes you made to the meta title and description. Here’s how you can check the cache date:

    1. Perform a Google search for the affected page.
    2. Click on the small, downwards-pointing arrow next to the domain in the search results.
    3. Click on “Cached” to view the cache date.

If the cache date is from before you added the new meta description, you may need to wait for Google to re-crawl and re-index the page with your updated meta title and description.

It’s also important to ensure that your meta descriptions are relevant, useful, and of high quality. If they are not, Google may choose to display alternative content from your page that better matches the search intent.

If you feel that the alternative title provided by Google isn’t a better fit over your title, you can let Google know through their Search Help Community.

Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention.

    Hello,

We have checked the meta description of the affected page, and it is indeed already appearing fine in the page’s source code.

To ensure that the meta title and description you have set are already applied, you can verify that using these tools:

    https://rankmath.com/tools/meta-tag-analyzer/

Please note that Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and shows something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better. In this case, the best you can do is optimize your meta title and description to try and match the intent of the search/keyword.

Regarding the date showing, please note that Google picks and shows the dates that they see in the content itself. This is something an SEO plugin cannot control.

One of the most prominent ways (in our experience), is the date shown by the theme on the page.

Google usually picks and shows the date they see in the content itself and shows it in the SERPs. Meaning, that if you have a visible date on your content, that will be picked up by Google and displayed beside the snippets.

    Hope that helps.
