My Meta Description Tags Aren’t Pulling Through Properly

    Hi,

    I’ve put included an %excerpt% in for my pages meta descriptions but a full description is being shown instead and when I go to address this manually it won’t allow me to edit the description. (This isn’t the case for the meta titles, however – the tags are working as they should for them).

    I’ve tried deactivating and uninstalling the plug-in but that doesn’t resolve the issue.

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks for contacting us and we regret the inconvenience caused.

    You won’t be able to edit the description in the snippet editor as it is generated using a variable.

    However, the meta description should be automatically truncated after 160 characters. Could you confirm if the issue is with all the pages including new ones or only with the existing pages?

    Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

    Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.
