Missing pages in Sitemap and empty titles in interface

    Hi

I recently had my site re-coded into WordPress. It was setup on a staging server whilst it was developed.

We added RankMath whilst it was in staging. Everything seemed to be OK and all tiles, canonicals, meta descriptions etc were copied over.

We pushed live earlier and there seem to be two issues. The first is that in the Sitemap there are only 11 pages/posts showing. There should be nearly 50 URLs.

The pages that are showing include pages that I don’t want to even be in the sitemap like thank you pages etc.

One thing I did notice is that the Sitemap is not showing any pages that have a canonical added, which is strange.

The second weird thing is that in the Rank Math interface, the titles field seems to be blank on all the pages.

When I try to edit the title of any page, it won’t let me do anything.

However, the titles do appear to be there on the live pages and I checked the source code and it is all showing fine.

Please can you fix these issues for me?

    Thank you

Please can you hold off doing anything with this until I give you the go ahead. There was some issue with the transfer to staging that has caused the admin panel in WP to have errors in console and its not functioning normally.

My host is looking into this right now. I will let you know when it’s fixed.

The host has fixed the issue now so you can proceed with fixing Rank Math.

    Thanks

    Hello,

    Thank you for the update.

One thing I did notice is that the Sitemap is not showing any pages that have a canonical added, which is strange.

You are right to assume that those pages that you have added a canonical will not be included in your sitemap. Rank Math automatically adds a canonical URL to all your pages. If you are using a custom canonical URL in the advanced tab of Rank Math, we do not include that URL in the sitemap because there is no purpose in having a page without a self-canonical URL in the sitemap. The main purpose of adding a custom canonical to your pages/posts is to let Google know that it is a duplicate page, and not to be indexed.

You can also check this link for more information:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/url-not-in-sitemap/

For those pages that should not be included in your sitemap, you can set them to noindex to remove them.

Unfortunately, I’m unable to replicate the blank title issue on your website. Could you please also share the affected page/URL to check this issue?

I hope that helps. Thank you, and looking forward to your update.

    Thank you for your reply.

So if I delete the canonicals from each page in the advanced field, will that mean that those pages will automatically get added to the sitemap after the canonical is removed?

    Thanks

    Hello,

Yes, once you remove the custom canonical, your URLs will be added to the sitemaps automatically.

Make sure that your sitemaps are not getting cached.
Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

I hope this helps. Looking forward to helping you.
