Meta Description Not Working

    Hi there,
    I sometimes get a bug where I add the meta description, but on save it disappears. It affects the score and when I go to check it is in the pop up – it’s there. Close the pop up, and click save and its disappeared again…
    When I go back to the list of pages though, I can see it in the column for meta descriptions.

    What is happening?

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

    Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

    If the issue persists, please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

    Hello,

    We apologize if that didn’t help you with your current issue. Usually, when Meta description isn’t saved, one cause is a plugin conflict as we mentioned in our dedicated article for this kind of issues: https://rankmath.com/kb/meta-data-not-saving/#plugin-conflicts

    If that isn’t the case for you, check your browser console for script errors when you save your changes in your posts/pages.

    If you see an error containing “updateMeta”, then your server must be blocking Rank Math’s API. Please refer to this guide to fix it: https://rankmath.com/kb/meta-data-not-saving/#firewall
