Meta Description Missing

#73309
  • Hello.

Ahrefs analysis warned me that meta description tag is missing in all my posts/pages.

I switched from Yoast to RM a few months back. Theme theme I am using is from Thrive Themes.

Can you verify and propose a solution?

    Thank you.

    Tom

  • Hi,

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

You can set up a default variable for all your posts and pages from WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Posts
    as well as
WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Pages

You can use %excerpt% in the description field so that Rank Math can generate a meta description from your content automatically.

Having said that, I highly recommend going through the following guide to set up the plugin completely and correctly:
    https://youtu.be/dTvZuMRzW4w
    and
    https://www.wpmediamastery.com/rank-math-seo/?&utm_campaign=Rank+Math

I hope that helps. Please let me know if there’s anything I can help you with.

    Hello!
    Thanks for the prompt reply.
    It is set to %excerpt%.
And a snippit preview is shown for every log post in the Rank Math toolbar in the WP editor.
But it seems like it still isn’t included in the code.
    Any idea what cause this?

I find the same issue on bestroofbox.com, which is a webpage that is profiled as a case study by WP Eagle on YouTube.

    Hello,

I checked both sites and they seem to have the meta description set perfectly fine. Please check the screenshots I have added in the sensitive section. You can also check if the correct meta description is added by testing your site with Google SERP simulator here: https://technicalseo.com/tools/google-serp-simulator/

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hi!

Yes, I found the setting that fixed it today.

I had to changed the advanced robots meta from -1 (default) to 160.

What confused me was that the snippet preview showed a snippet for all posts, even tho the advanced robots meta was at -1 and no meta description was included in the code.

    Tom

    Hello,

The advanced robots meta snippet value is used to modify the number of characters for the snippets provided by the plugin. -1 is the default value, which means that the snippet entered in the plugin will be displayed as it is.

Hope that helps. If you have any further question(s), please let us know. Thank you.
