    Hello,

I am experiencing an issue with the meta description in Google search results when users search for “derbysport.” The issue appears as shown in the picture here: https://imgur.com/WEsluPl
The meta description for my homepage should be as shown in the picture here: https://imgur.com/FpKHYwH, but for some reason, it is being overwritten by Google.

The same issue is occurring for the “LOPTE” category. The Rank Math meta box for the category appears as shown in the picture here: https://imgur.com/LEwzzPQ

I have also attached a screenshot of the “Global Meta Settings” tab on our website here: https://imgur.com/bGdOlc9

Our regular sitemap is active and can be found at https://derbysport.rs/sitemap_index.xml.

I am unsure why the meta description is being overwritten and displaying the same text, which includes “ADRESA: DERBY SPORT DOO, VIDIKOVAÄŒKI VENAC 77/36…”.

If you could provide some guidance, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you in advance.

    Best regards,
    Dule.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for the delay and for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

We have checked the meta description of your homepage, and they are already appearing fine in the page’s source code.

To ensure that the meta title and description you have set are already applied, you can verify that using these tools:
    https://heymeta.com
    https://rankmath.com/tools/meta-tag-analyzer/

Please note that Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and shows something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better. In this case, the best you can do is optimize your meta title and description to try and match the intent of the search/keyword.

Regarding the links appearing under your homepage, those links and descriptions appearing under the homepage are called Sitelinks.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to control which links or titles are shown on the search results under the Sitelinks as Google chooses them automatically.

However, you can refer to Google’s guidelines for Sitelinks:
    https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/appearance/sitelinks?hl=en&visit_id=637896202197743542-2185653846&rd=1#sitelinks-best-practices

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
