    Dear RankMath Support Team,

in Biofabrik we are working with Rankmath for some time already.
Recently we facing the problem, that the meta description we add on our pages does not appear on google results as shown in the screenshots which you find below.

    https://ibb.co/jkqr7Xj
    https://ibb.co/VLkrf6W

(Google Keyword: Biofabrik from a Browser with IP in Portugal but language German)

Therefore we are wondering what we can do to match our set meta descriptions with the ones which are shown in google.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

    Leonhard Meitner

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math, and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

It is a pretty common thing with Google these days. It happens with 70% of the results that even if everything’s fine, Google decides to show a different meta title/description for your search keyword, there is nothing you can do as Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and show something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better.

You can refer to this guide for more information:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/

I hope this helps. Looking forward to helping you.

    Hey,

that wouldn’t be a problem in itself if the content were at least suitable. What exactly does the schema have to do with that? We at Biofabrik used the article for the page I showed you. Would that be suitable or might a change of schema also change the meta description?
How do other portals and companies proceed when they want to change their meta description? Is there no other way to do this?

    Best regards,
    Leonhard

    Hello,

Google tends to crawl every element on your website and this includes the schema. Sometimes, Google uses any content they can find for the SERP if they think it is relevant from the keyword search.

I tried searching your website domain directly and it shows the correct meta:

    meta

So this only tells us that your desired keyword is not optimized for the meta description you wish to show on the SERP. Here’s a detailed why Google isn’t picking your desired meta description: https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/#meta-description-rewrites

You can see in our screenshot here that even our meta-information isn’t being used by Google: https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/#page-title-rewrites

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hello,

thanks for sharing this information. Helps us understanding the issue better.
Unfortunately, none of the contingencies mentioned in the blog article apply to the meta description used by Biofabrik.

Is there any possibility to influence the link tree google is using in the screenshot I sent before?

    Greetings,
    Leonhard

    Hello,

If you are referring to the sitelinks Google shows when a brand-related search term has been used then, unfortunately, you cannot change how it appears in the search. Google decides which pages are more relevant and show them in the search snippet.

We hope that clarifies your doubt. Please don’t hesitate to contact us again if you need further assistance.

    Thank you
