    Rank Math free

    Hi,
I am using Rankmath on my website. (Website link is pasted in sensitive data)

I am unable to open the page/post or any other sitemap. Instead of opening, it’s being downloaded.
I guess it’s a mime type .xml issue? Don’t know how can I fix this.
Could you please help me out to fix this sitemap error?
    Looking forward to your response.
    Thanks

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Can you please follow these steps?
    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

Also, go to your WordPress dashboard > Settings > Permalinks > Click the Save Changes button without making any changes.

That should fix the issue. Please let me know if that does not. We are here to assist.

I am still facing same issue,
I am using WP Rocket plugin (Followed advanced rule guide as you sent me above)
flushed rankmath cache, saved permalinks. but nothing worked.

I am using wpengine hosting BTW. (I have cleared it’s cache too) but nothing worked.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Here is a video you can follow as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcIWRhcUP2c

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

If the issue persists, please record a video screencast using a tool like Loom showing the troubleshooting and edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

On your website those files when they are being loaded they have the content type set to application/octet-stream; charset=UTF-8 which is not acceptable as an XML type.

The default should be text/xml and that’s what our plugin generally outputs.

If you are modifying this with server rules please review them and make sure the correct content type is outputted on those files.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

content type set to application/octet-stream; charset=UTF-8 and The default should be text/xml.

How can I do this? Is it possible from the WordPress? or Should I must have to contact hosting provider.

    Hello,

In this case, you may need to get in touch with your web host for assisting you with this kind of query.

Let us know how this goes.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.
