Main categories and subcategories pagination

Hi,

On my website, I have a couple of main categories and inside them a couple of subcategories. The main category consists of all links that are also present in the subcategories so I need a little more granular control over each category and sub-category regarding the pagination through robots meta tags.

What I need is:
Main category first page to be index/follow, paginated pages on the main cat to be set to noindex/follow
Sub-category first page to be index/follow, paginated pages on sub-cat to be set to noindex/nofollow

I can’t do this through the plugin itself so I was wondering if there is some code snippet to set this up or some more granular Robots meta setting on the single category paginations. This is very important for me from the crawling budget perspective.
